CREATIVE SERVICES Design, Art & Illustration
Audrey Gilles' interest in the visual arts was initially informed by her classical training in painting and drawing. She uses traditional hand-skills in the old-world tradition of the European “masters” and combines them with modern software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, to develop commercial designs and illustration projects. Her portfolio of completed design projects includes logos, websites, graphics for T-shirts/hats, brochures, and event programs, as well as custom artwork.
Audrey studied graphic design at the Art Institute of Philadelphia, fine art at the School of Visual Arts in New York, illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology, and interior design at the New York School of Interior Design. She continues her studies with ongoing classical drawing and painting to deepen her understanding of classical form and function, design, practice, and discipline. She currently works with two Ateliers in San Francisco: Justin Hess Studios (learning and applying the sight-size method) and Sadie Valeri Atelier (refining techniques of classical realism). Both of these ateliers are based on the French, 19th century artistic movement that places a high value upon skill and beauty, combining elements of neoclassicism and realism.
